Reviews “A remarkable contribution to development studies as well as the fields of demography and political economy. The carefully selected and meticulously edited book chapters enhance our understanding of the largely under-studied linkages between economic growth and demographic transition in the Third World countries. The book chapters highlight the importance of migration, education, employment, gender, and environmental dynamics in shaping this complex and chaotic relationship between economic growth and demographic transition in the developing Third World countries. One of the key contributions of this volume lies in its original use of the chaos and complexity theories in making sense of this multifaceted set of relationships.” —Dr. Oktay F. Tanrisever, Professor and Chair, Department of International Relations, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey Now Available in Paperback This volume presents a new perspective on demographic transition, economic growth, and national development via exploration of the Third World economies. It provides a multidimensional approach to the close relationship between the concept of the chaos and complexity theory and provides a deliberate glance into the plight of policy formulation for demographic transition, economic growth, and development and Third World countries. The volume discusses the efficiency of good strategies and practices and their impact on business growth and economic growth, depending on the depth and diversity of infrastructure sector in particular and overall socioeconomic development in general. Economic Growth and Demographic Transition in Third World Nations: A Chaos and Complexity Theory Perspective covers a conglomeration of various aspects and issues related to the effect of demographic transition on socio-economic development in Third World countries, especially in the post-globalized era. It focuses on the applicability of the chaos and complexity theory in order to elicit transformational policies and aims to discuss and predict future projections of the new world of the economic growth policies. Given that the demographic variable is always sidelined in economic growth and national development works, especially in developing countries, the authors take the approach that it is imperative to address this gap in this volume. Moreover, the emergence of chaos and complexity theory is sometimes overlooked. The volume aims to bring attention to new developments in economic growth and demographic transition in Third World nations as enshrined in chaos and complexity. It will be an essential reference source for faculty and advanced students in the fields of education, development studies, management studies, political science studies, economics, project planning and management studies, as well as for governmental and private entities involved in economic policymaking and implementation. AAP support has been truly important throughout the initial and final stages of the book. While the majority of the publishing work is done at the early stages, the final touches that include the last-minute corrections of the authors are extremely crucial to the quality the book tries to convey. The assistance of AAP during the last stages of corrections and communication with the authors was a very positive contributor to my state of mind during those stressful moments. I recommend the publishing experience with AAP to other editors of scientific material.” —Stavros Hatzopoulos, PhD, Hearing Science Laboratory, University Hospital of Ferrara, Ferrara, Italy AAP book title: Nanotechnologies: The Physics of Nanomaterials (2-volume set) “I was very pleased with the interaction and support of the team at Apple Academic Press.
