Corrosion studies have attracted considerable interest in the areas of materials chemistry and industrial chemistry. Corrosion is the undesirable process that is the progressive destruction of materials (especially metals) by chemical reaction with various molecules in their environment. This chemical process can also be expressed as electrochemical oxidation of metals in reaction with an oxidant such as oxygen.

Savaş Kaya is a lecturer at Cumhuriyet University, Sivas, Turkey. He completed his MSc degree in 2013 in the field of theoretical inorganic chemistry at the Cumhuriyet University Science Institute. He is currently working on his PhD under the guidance of Dr. Professor Cemal Kaya. His research is mainly focused on density functionaltTheory, theoretical chemistry, and physical inorganic chemistry. He has authored many theoretical papers related to quantum chemical parameters, solid state chemistry, corrosion science, and chemical equalization principles.

Ime Bassey Obot, PhD, is currently Assistant Professor at the Centre of Research Excellence in Corrosion, Research Institute at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Before joining the university, he had garnered about 10 years of experience in teaching and research in both the university and industrial environments. He has also undertaken collaborative research projects with experts from the USA, Turkey, South Africa, China, India, Egypt, Morocco, and Nigeria in the area of innovative corrosion inhibition and quantum chemical design of novel anti-corrosion materials. He has been an invited speaker and has presented papers in conferences held in the USA, China, Italy, Bahrain, UAE, etc. Dr. Obot has authored/co-authored over 145 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, including four book chapters and three critical reviews in the area of corrosion science, DFT, and molecular dynamic simulations. He is on the editorial board of several international journals and is a reviewer for many international journals. He was awarded a certificate of recognition by the President of the American Chemical Society for outstanding contribution to chemical research in 2012. He is a member of many international societies, including the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE), Italian Corrosion Society (ICS), European Desalination Society (EDS) and American Chemical Society (ACS), etc.

Loutfy H. Madkour, PhD, is a professor of physical chemistry at Al Baha University (KSA). His research fields are physical chemistry, electro- chemistry, corrosion, electrometallurgy, electro-analytical chemistry, analytical chemistry, polarography, electrolytic extraction of heavy metals from natural ores and deposits, electrochemical thermodynamics, and environmental chemistry. He is an editorial board member of the International Journal of Industrial Chemistry (IJIC); E-Cronicon Chemistry (EC Chemistry); BAO Journal Chemistry, and the International Journal of Ground Sediment & Water.
