Short description about the volume:

This book, Soft Computing and Intelligent Optimization for Decision Making with AI/ML in Engineering Systems, will focus on integrating advanced computational intelligence techniques with engineering problem-solving. It will provide a comprehensive exploration of soft computing paradigms, including fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms, and swarm intelligence, and will demonstrate their synergy with AI and machine learning for effective decision-making and optimization in complex engineering systems. It will cover both theoretical foundations and practical methodologies for implementing these intelligent systems. Key topics will include hybrid intelligent systems, neuro-fuzzy models, and multi-objective optimization techniques tailored to address real-world engineering challenges characterized by uncertainty, incomplete data, and non-linear interactions. The book will emphasize practical applications across various engineering domains such as mechanical, civil, electrical, industrial, and aerospace systems. Through case studies, readers will learn how intelligent optimization techniques improve resource allocation, production scheduling, structural design, energy management, and predictive maintenance, bridging the gap between computational models and real-world solutions.

Emerging trends and advanced topics will also be highlighted, including digital twins, autonomous optimization, smart manufacturing, and quantum-inspired algorithms. Challenges such as computational complexity, model interpretability, and ethical considerations will be discussed to provide a balanced and holistic perspective on the adoption of AI/ML-driven approaches in engineering systems. Overall, the book aims to equip engineers, researchers, and students with the knowledge and tools to design, analyze, and optimize complex systems intelligently. By combining theory, methodology, and application, it will facilitate faster, data-driven decision-making while encouraging innovation, sustainability, and efficiency in engineering practices.
