As home to over 10,000 species of plants, the Himalaya biodiversity hotspot is renowned throughout the world as being a treasure trove of medicinal herbs. The existence of Himalayan medicinal plants, which are thought to be the richest source of active biomolecules, is alarmingly threatened by the rising demand for herbal medicines on the global market. Most of these are threatened due to overexploitation, while some have gone extinct.

Dr. Kumar is a Fellow of Himalayan Science and Technology. He has earned 12 awards for his excellent research in honeybees/physiology to date. Neha Salaria, PhD Assistant Professor of Biotechnology, Department of Life Sciences, Arni University, Himachal Pradesh, India Neha Salaria, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Biotechnology in the Department of Life Sciences at Arni University, Himachal Pradesh, India. Her primary areas of expertise lie in microbiology and biotechnology, where she has showcased remarkable proficiency in microbial isolation, screening, antimicrobial research, and tissue culturing. Dr. Neha has authored more than 10 research papers in esteemed national and international journals and contributed to six book chapters. She has several years of rich experience in teaching and research and specializes in animal sciences. Dr. Hajam has been teaching graduate and postgraduate students of zoology for the past three years and has been guiding postgraduate and PhD students for their dissertations and theses. He is currently handling a major research project as Principal Investigator and three projects under the HP CM Startup Scheme.
