This new book, Intelligent Technologies for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, explores how emerging intelligent technologies can address some of today’s most pressing energy and environmental challenges. Bringing together multidisciplinary research, technological advances, real-world applications, and case studies, the volume examines how artificial intelligence, machine learning, the Internet of Things, automation, sensing technologies, smart systems, and data-driven approaches can contribute to a more efficient, resilient, and environmentally responsible future.

The book highlights the shift toward intelligent approaches in energy management, environmental protection, resource utilization, and sustainable development. Chapters examine opportunities to optimize energy consumption, increase energy efficiency, support renewable energy integration, improve environmental monitoring, reduce waste, and strengthen data-driven decision making. Applications extend across smart cities and infrastructure, sustainable construction, circular economy strategies, water–energy systems, electric vehicles, resource recovery, sustainable materials, and climate action.

Along with technological progress, the volume considers the practical and environmental implications of implementing technology-based solutions. Case studies illustrate applications ranging from AI-enabled energy management and smart contracts to low-carbon construction, biowaste valorization, and integrated waste management.

Offering interdisciplinary perspectives and forward-looking insights, this reference demonstrates how intelligent systems can support resource efficiency, environmental protection, and sustainable transformation. It will be valuable to researchers, academics, engineers, policymakers, practitioners, and students working in intelligent technologies, energy, environmental science, sustainable infrastructure, and sustainable development.
