Pharmacists are increasingly recognized not just as dispensers of medications but as key healthcare providers offering a wide range of services. At present, there is no comprehensive resource on the evidence-based practice of the clinical, economic, and humanistic impact of pharmacist care that discusses the implications and challenges and that provides practical tips for effective pharmacist care services. And there is no book that discusses online and distance pharmacist care.

Recognizing that the value of pharmacists extends beyond clinical interventions to include cost-effective healthcare solutions and compassionate, patient-centered care, this new series of handbooks aims to fill this gap by showcasing the expanded roles and responsibilities of pharmacists. It will be first of its kind to provide comprehensive information about evidence-based pharmacist care, providing the latest research, guidelines, and up-to-date best practices.

This handbook series is unique in that each volume covers a specific topic, such as infectious diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and cardiovascular diseases (to name just three areas) and will explore the impact of pharmacist care on patients in clinical settings, consider the economics and humanistic outcomes, as well as discuss the challenges and present helpful advice for implementing effective pharmacist care. Author and Editor: Yaser Mohammed Al-Worafi, PhD, is a Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy, University of Science and Technology of Fujairah, UAE (Previously known as Ajman University). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy (BPharm) from Sana’a University, Yemen and obtained master’s and PhD degree in Clinical Pharmacy from the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Malaysia. Prof. Yaser has many postgraduate programs certificates including: Training to Teach in Medicine 2023 from Harvard Medical School, Harvard University; and Contemporary Approaches to University Teaching from The Council of Australasian University Leaders in Learning and Teaching (CAULLT). Prof. Yaser is a fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, UK. He has more than 20 years of experience in education, practice, and research in Yemen, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Malaysia. He has held various academic and professional positions, including Deputy Dean for Medical Sciences College; PharmD Program Director, Head of Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice Department; Head of Teaching & Learning Committee; Head of Training Committee; Head of Curriculum Committee, etc. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and book chapters and has edited more than 30 books and 1500 book chapters in books published by Springer, Elsevier, and Taylors & Francis, USA. Prof. Yaser has supervised/co-supervised PhD (3, one finished), master’s (27, 20 finished), PharmD (33 finished), and BPharm (more than 120, 100 finished) students. He is a reviewer for eight recognized international peer-reviewed journals. Prof. Yaser taught, prepared, designed, and wrote many pharmacy programs for many universities including Master of Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice program; PharmD program and BPharm program; internship/clerkships for Master, PharmD and BPharm programs; more than 30 courses related to clinical pharmacy, pharmacy practice, social pharmacy and patients care. Prof. Yaser has been recognized globally for his contributions to pharmacy practice, education, and medication and patient safety, being listed in the Top 2% Scientists list of the World by Stanford University. He is ranked among the best ten researchers globally in several key areas, highlighting his dedication and expertise in advancing medication safety and effectiveness:
