Short description about the volume:

The book titled Green Hydrogen Applications for Industry and Infrastructure will present an application-oriented perspective on the role of renewable hydrogen in industrial decarbonization and the development of low-carbon infrastructure. It will examine the use of green hydrogen in sectors where direct electrification remains technically difficult or economically challenging, including iron and steel, ammonia and fertilizer production, refining, chemical processing, industrial heat, and other energy-intensive applications. The book will also address practical aspects such as hydrogen production integration, storage, transportation, distribution, cost, safety, infrastructure readiness, and operational requirements.

The book will further explore the expanding role of green hydrogen in infrastructure systems, including heavy-duty road and rail transport, shipping, aviation, ports, hydrogen refueling networks, stationary power, renewable energy storage, grid balancing, buildings, water-related infrastructure, and distributed energy systems. It will examine how hydrogen systems can interact with renewable electricity generation and existing energy networks to support reliable and low-carbon energy services. Cross-cutting issues such as techno-economic feasibility, environmental performance, digitalization, regulatory frameworks, and policy support will be discussed in relation to specific applications.

A key feature of the book will be its emphasis on practical deployment and international experience. Selected case studies will highlight hydrogen initiatives across different countries and regions, offering insights into deployment models, infrastructure planning, industrial partnerships, investment requirements, policy support, implementation barriers, and lessons for future projects.

The book is intended for researchers, postgraduate and doctoral students, academicians, engineers, energy professionals, industry practitioners, infrastructure planners, policymakers, project developers, and other stakeholders working in green hydrogen, industrial decarbonization, and sustainable energy infrastructure.
