Universities now operate in a world where ideas, students, credentials, and technologies cross borders with unusual speed—yet durable practice still depends on craft: wise policy, credible quality cultures, ethical guardrails, and the everyday pedagogy of learning across difference. This new volume, Globalizing and Internationalizing in Higher Education: Policies, Practices, and Perspectives, asks how institutions can move from campaign slogans about “global readiness” to reproducible, context-aware internationalization that expands opportunity without erasing local voice.

The chapters braid strategy with street-level detail: innovation systems that make change governable; African policy lenses that refuse one-size-fits-all templates; the fine grain of cultural integration for international students; the digital plumbing of cross-border courses; quality as a shared habit rather than an audit event; integrity work in the gray areas where incentives drift; branch campuses as laboratories instead of trophies; hybrid quality assurance that stays comparable and still respects place; educational technology as method and milieu; and the exacting mechanics of accreditation that tether aspiration to evidence.

Readers will find definitions that travel, instruments that work, cautions that matter, and exemplars that can be adapted—not copied—so internationalization becomes less a race for rankings and more a public practice anchored in reciprocity, equity, and accountability.

Designed for leaders, faculty, quality professionals, and policymakers, the book offers navigational tools for the next decade: how to design partnerships that are genuinely mutual, how to align incentives with values, how to build digital ecosystems that widen access, and how to cultivate cosmopolitan habits—curiosity, humility, and comparative literacy—across an entire institution.
