Short description about the volume:

The book Geothermal Resources: Exploring Opportunities for Mineral Extraction and Sustainable Development will fill an important research gap by bringing together recent scientific advances, engineering innovations, environmental management strategies, techno-economic analyses, policy frameworks, and digital technologies within a single volume. It will cover the complete spectrum of geothermal resource exploration, reservoir characterization, enhanced geothermal systems, mineral recovery from geothermal brines, environmental assessment, carbon capture integration, artificial intelligence, machine learning, financing, and international best practices.

Contributions from leading researchers and industry experts across different countries will provide diverse perspectives and state-of-the-art knowledge that are currently dispersed across journals and specialized publications. A distinctive feature of this edited volume will be its interdisciplinary approach that integrates renewable energy, critical mineral extraction, environmental sustainability, and emerging digital technologies. Unlike conventional geothermal textbooks, this book will highlight innovative developments such as AI-assisted geothermal exploration, digitalization of geothermal operations, carbon capture and storage (CCUS), circular economy concepts, climate change mitigation, and sustainable resource governance.

This book distinguishes itself by providing an interdisciplinary perspective that combines geothermal energy utilization with critical mineral extraction, sustainability, circular economy principles, environmental stewardship, and policy frameworks. It further incorporates emerging technologies including Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Digital Twins, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), advanced reservoir modelling, and digital monitoring for resource optimization.
