Short description about the volume:

This forthcoming book, Biomimetic Solar-Thermal Energy Solutions: Design, Optimization and Applications, will offer a comprehensive exploration of how nature-inspired solutions can enhance solar-thermal energy systems. It will explore into various aspects of biomimicry, including materials, structures, processes, and systems, demonstrating their application to address challenges in conventional solar-thermal technologies. The work plans to cover a wide range of topics, from the fundamental principles of biomimicry and photosynthesis to advanced concepts like artificial photosynthesis and biomimetic materials. It will examine nature-inspired strategies for improving heat transfer, energy storage, self-cleaning surfaces, fluid distribution, and sun tracking in solar systems. The book also will discuss the development of novel nanomaterials with enhanced thermal conductivity and bio-inspired catalysts for water splitting. Additionally, it will explore the use of machine learning and computational fluid dynamics in optimizing biomimetic designs, addresses manufacturing and scaling challenges, and evaluates the economic viability and life cycle of these systems.

The integration of biomimetic solar-thermal technologies with smart grids and IoT is considered, along with applications in concentrated solar power, low-grade heat harvesting, selective solar absorber coatings, and water purification. By presenting both theoretical foundations and practical applications, this book serves as a valuable resource for researchers, engineers, policymakers, environmentalists, students, and entrepreneurs involved in solar energy and sustainable technology development.
