As a rapidly expanding industry, aquaculture is becoming increasingly important in addressing global challenges that include nutrition, reducing poverty, and promoting sustainable development. The new book, Advances in Fish Genetics and Pathology, provides a comprehensive collection of research and insights into recent advances in fish genetics and pathology, focusing on the development of better strains of cultivable fish and on the challenges to preserve and manage native genetic resources. The volume explores recent advances in fish genetics and biotechnology that offer great potential for their application in aquaculture to address the aforementioned challenges.

Reviewing the application of biological technologies in fish genetics breeding, the chapters cover advanced fish genetics and pathology tools and techniques such as gene editing, environmental DNA, RNA interference applications, antimicrobial peptides (AMPs), and nanoformulation and other nanotechnological applications. The advanced techniques for intelligent diagnosis of fish diseases and strategies for disease management in finfish aquaculture are also covered.

Topics include the fish proteomics, transgenic fish production techniques, fish genetics and biotechnology in aquatic health management and fish breeding
gene editing/CRISPR technology in aquaculture development, and more.

Providing a comprehensive overview of the field of modern genetics and fish pathology, and featuring a diverse group of esteemed editors and expert contributors, this volume will be of interest to fishery and aquaculture professionals in academia and industry.
