The landscape of infectious diseases is rapidly evolving, presenting unprecedented challenges to global health systems. According to the World Health Organization, infectious diseases kill more than 17 million people a year, with 30 new diseases having emerged in the last 20 years. The continuing emergence of new pathogens and the resurgence of previously controlled diseases underscore the urgent need for innovative approaches to drug delivery.

Advances in Drug Delivery in Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases is a new two-volume work that covers important aspects related to the advancement of drug delivery systems that hold great promise in the management of infectious diseases. It presents a selection of promising approaches for the effective prevention and treatment strategies to combat the threat of infectious diseases.

Volume 1: In Vitro Tools and Methods in Prevention and Management Strategies discusses new emerging infectious diseases along with innovative control and prevention strategies. It covers advances in drug delivery to combat upper respiratory infections and pulmonary infections, advances in drug delivery to combat dermal infections, oral infectious disease, and resistance issues and more. The volume explores through critical in vitro tools and methods in advancing the drug delivery strategy to manage infectious diseases. Chapters cover nanotheranostics approaches against infectious diseases along with the use of phytopharmaceuticals in management of infectious diseases.

Volume 2: Smart Solutions for Targeted Therapy and Treatment addresses the challenges of infectious diseases by highlighting the latest advancements in drug delivery technologies specifically tailored for combating infectious diseases. The chapters explore the integration of nanotechnology, biotechnological therapies, and artificial intelligence into drug delivery systems, which have revolutionized how we approach treatment struggles. Chapters cover targeted therapy against infectious diseases using metallic nanoparticles, biotechnological products (emphasizing proteins/peptides) for the treatment of infectious diseases, RNA-based therapeutics, gene editing reagents for treating viral infections, critical in vitro tools and methods in advancing the drug delivery strategy to manage infectious diseases, phage therapy, artificial intelligence assisted drug delivery in the management of infectious diseases, and more.

Together these two volumes offer a plethora of useful and state-of-the-art research on the prevention, management, and treatment of emerging infectious diseases. The books will be valuable and information for faculty, students, researchers, and pharmaceutical professionals wanting to be at the forefront of this infectious diseases research.
