The field of polymer science has entered a transformative era, with advanced materials now playing critical roles in healthcare, electronics, aerospace, manufacturing, and other emerging technologies. This new volume, Advanced Materials and Chemical Systems: Innovations in Nanotechnology, Catalysis, Energy, and Environmental Applications , brings together current research on polymer synthesis, nanocomposite engineering, functional materials, biomedical applications, and intelligent design.

Beginning with advanced polymer synthesis and molecular design, the volume examines graft copolymers, polyurethanes, polyvinyl alcohol systems, and other engineered polymeric materials. It then explores structure–property relationships in nanocomposites incorporating metal oxide nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, and other functional fillers, demonstrating how material composition can influence mechanical, thermal, and functional performance.

Further chapters address photochromic liquid crystal polymer films, electrically controlled optical systems, piezoelectric materials, biomedical nanocomposites, antibacterial materials, and biofunctional polymers. Emerging methodologies are also considered, including the use of artificial intelligence for predictive design and functional optimization of polymer composites and the application of thermoplastic composites in aircraft manufacturing.

Key Features:
• Provides current perspectives on polymer synthesis, molecular design, and characterization.
• Explores structure–property relationships in functional polymer nanocomposites.
• Describes optical, smart, biomedical, and antibacterial material systems.
• Examines AI-assisted polymer composite design and advanced aerospace applications.

Connecting design principles with measurable properties and real-world performance, this volume provides a useful resource for researchers, graduate students, and professionals in polymer science, materials science, nanotechnology, and related fields. Overall, it offers a broad overview of how advanced polymer systems and functional nanocomposites are being designed, characterized, and applied to meet evolving technological needs.

The chapters in this book have been selected papers from the 9th International Caucasian Symposium on Polymers and Advanced Materials, held October 2025 in Kutaisi, Georgia, at Akaki Tsereteli State University, organized by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
