The role of wild plants in human nutrition has attracted the interest of researchers from many fields throughout history. Numerous reports in both social and natural sciences have provided evidence on the past and present nutritional role of wild edible plants. However, the significance of the continued use of such “unseen food resources” remains a low priority in many policy areas, including those of sustainable agriculture, biodiversity, and public health. The principal aim of this book is to identify the contemporary role and importance of wild edible plants in the nutritional, anti-nutritional and nutraceutical aspects in different agro-ecological regions.
