About the Book Series Editor-in-Chief
Dr. P. P. Joy is an eminent researcher and Professor of Agronomy & Head, Pineapple Research Station, Kerala Agricultural University (KAU), India. Presently, he is involved in developing agro-technologies, processing technologies, and IT-enabled services for pineapple, passion fruit, and other economically important fruit crops. He has put in 32 years of service in agricultural research and development, teaching, and extension. His areas of expertise include agronomy, plant science, soil and water conservation; water, nutrient, weed and cropping system management; and research project, database, web and ICT management. He is well conversant with the latest research methodology, analyses, and interpretation of research results and has ample experience in both field and laboratory experimentation.

His team has developed a variety “Sugandhini” (ODC-130) in cinnamon, 134P in passion fruit and agrotechnologies for rice, pulses, medicinal and aromatic plants, and fruit crops. He was the Principal Investigator of 25 university research projects, and he was associated with another 32 projects of AICRPs and KAU. He was the Principal Investigator of the ICAR research project “Standardization of agro-techniques for lesser known medicinal and aromatic plants of Zingiberaceae,” “Development of lemongrass oleoresin for flavouring,” KSCSTE project “Evaluation of passion fruit types for commercial cultivation in Kerala,” and KPM project “Organic versus inorganic nutrient management of pineapple varieties.” He was also associated with twelve projects funded by state and central governments of India.

Dr. Joy has authored over 200 publications including 25 books/chapters, 70 research papers, 25 bulletins, 35 seminars/symposia/conference papers, and 40 popular articles.

He received his BS. (Agri.) degree from KAU, MSc (Agri.) in Agronomy from the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, and PhD in Agronomy from KAU.
