Bamboo is an important agroforestry and forest plant managed and used by rural communities in several countries of the Asia-Pacific region. It helps to address diverse economic and socio-environmental needs. This forthcoming book, Bamboo: Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation, will present a number of important and relevant case studies that deal with bamboo farming and its effect from and on climate change adaptation and mitigation. There is a lack of research on the role of bamboo in climate change adaptation and mitigation. This volume aims to fill that gap by providing information and will enable policymakers to consider bamboo farming and its implications in carbon trading.

The book will cover
• the effect of bamboo on climate change and environment
• overlooked bamboo biomass resources
• carbon capture and storage potential in bamboo
• opportunities for carbon farming and carbon trading in bamboo
• ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change
• effect on the livelihood of rural populations
• sustainable management of bamboo
• soil properties of bamboo-based agroforestry systems

Environmentalists love bamboo for its quick growth and for the fact that it can be harvested without harming the environment. However, the downsides of bamboo are now being scrutinized as its popularity grows and expands throughout the world of home construction. Some of those concerns include biodiversity, soil erosion, and chemical use. This volume incorporates studies from North East India on bamboo along with other relevant geographic areas.
